Master the Technique – Week 4 Assignment

Very busy week, and this weekend I was in Salt Lake City for a friend’s wedding.  I missed the deadline last night, got back into Phoenix too late to make my post.  Since I was out of my regular environment, I took advantage of the location with some picture-taking!

1 image side lit – I took a quick picture of my fun pink purse in the hotel room, next to the window.

New Look

I decided to update my picture and background, I’m thinking it reflects my style just a little bit more!  Last Saturday I started taking a drawing class, because I fell in love with the site http://www.urbansketchers.org/, so I want to try sketching AND taking pictures on my next vacation.  So far I have a couple of trips scheduled to Salt Lake City for my friends weddings, a visit to the parents down in Tucson, and the big one, 3 weeks in Australia in November.  Super excited about that last location, I know there will be a ton of new stuff to take in and I need to remember as much as possible through my pictures 🙂

If anyone has some suggestions about places to take photographs or sketches around the Phoenix valley, let me know. I figure the more practice the better!

Master the Technique – Week 3 Assignment

Had some fun shooting around downtown Gilbert!  This was an interesting assignment and pretty nerve-wracking for me.  I feel more comfortable when I’m given specifics on my settings for shooting, but figuring it out was scary AND fun 🙂

Color – At the farmers market I found some bright color in cabbages and rich color in cucumbers.

Framing – I took many shots of the water tower and finally found the frame I like!

Photo Basics: Master the Technique-Week 2 Assignment

Stopped by Western Star Park this weekend to get some fun pictures of my friends Van and Lola.  They did a fabulous job, and we had a fun time running around the park together.  Lots of pictures at the swings, but I really love the races over the bridge!

Photo Basics: Master the Technique-Week 1 Assignment

I went out to South Mountain with my friend Georganna to get going on my week 1 assignment.  Here are the photos I took, I’m so happy she was there to help me!  I love hiking in the morning, and with this park right behind my house, it seemed like the perfect place to get some pictures.

Pictures all around

Hi, my name is Kris, and I’m excited to get into the blog universe!  I signed-up for a photography class and found out I need to create my own blog, which sounds like fun, especially since I never take pictures and don’t read a lot of blogs.  Seriously, as far as photography is concerned, I love to rely on friends to track our travel experiences, so hopefully I’ll be ready to share in the picture-duties going forward…

I’ll post my first pictures in a couple of weeks, we’ll see how the muse hits me!
